Starter of the week: traveling on a freighter with CptnZeppos

ANTWERP - Looking for a unique and authentic way to travel? Commissioned by 4 shipping companies, with CptnZeppos Joris Van Bree gives passengers the chance to travel along in empty cabins of cargo ships.

During a bicycle trip to the port village of Lillo, Joris' curiosity about life aboard cargo ships grew. A visit to the Red Star Line Museum was subsequently the basis for a 14-day adventure on The Atlantic Sun, which sailed from Antwerp via Liverpool and Halifax to New York. An experience that Joris Van Bree now wants to share with others.

"With already more than 600 subscriptions to our CptnZeppos newsletter, we notice that people are looking for space for time and want to escape the masses. A social media detox, slow travel, being on the road is more important to them than the destination. Moreover, it is a form of environmentally friendly travel and an alternative to air travel."

Thus, CptnZeppos today offers trips from 6 to 119 days via 150 trade routes worldwide with ports in 76 countries. A unique concept that has already earned the company "the Bertjes," an award for innovative start-ups supported by The CoFoundry, City of Antwerp and Cronos Group.

Meanwhile, the first passenger leaves Antwerp on May 15 and other requests are flowing in smoothly.
