Take a trip on a cargo ship

From now on, ship lovers can go to Antwerp startup CptnZeppos, which offers private persons the opportunity to sail on a cargo ship as a passenger. The candidates must however be very aware of what this entails, says initiator Joris Van Bree. He is currently working with four shipping companies that are willing to take passengers on board.
CptnZeppos currently offers 37 departures from Antwerp and 150 worldwide. "That is more than enough to get started. You can reach the entire world with it," says Van Bree. "CptnZeppos stands for being on the road on cargo ships," he explains.
On board the ships that CptnZeppos offers, there is only room for a maximum of 12 travellers in a maximum of 6 cabins. With this concept Joris Van Bree also wants to give people the opportunity to relax and unwind.
Since there is no range at sea, you get a detox on social media. There is no form of entertainment on board, except for a gym and possibly a swimming pool and sauna. However, the wide view and the continuous movement are very inspiring. Officially, CptnZeppos will launch at the beginning of April. The shipping companies determine the price, but you should count on about 100 euros per day. They will start with trips from 6 to 119 days. For the latter, the interior is of course more luxurious.
Ecology and sustainability are also part of this story, says Van Bree. "These ships are 100% focused on freight transport so your Co2 emissions as a traveller are zero. On top of that, there's the social aspect. "Crew members are sometimes on board for up to 9 months and if you treat those people kindly and ask them questions they completely blossom. I call them the monks of the sea and I am convinced that the presence of passengers on board is beneficial to the well-being of the crew and at the same time it improves safety".
Passengers have to put a lot of things in order themselves before they are allowed to travel. From a certain age a medical certificate is required, which you can fill in yourself or have your doctor make up for you.
